I've been working remote since 2012. I've learned that one of the most important ways to make it work, especially when others are not remote within the same organization, is to be PRESENT, be AVAILABLE and be ACTIVE. However, you need to try to find balance as well so that you're NOT working extra hours and you're not sacrificing your personal life outside of work. It is easy to work extra when you feel like you constantly need to prove that you are as available as anyone else. So, finding that balance is important.
